The 2019 Subaru Crosstrek: Bringing You Closer to the Horizon, in Comfort and Safety

The Subaru Crosstrek defines what a crossover SUV should be in its versatility and its performance. This comfortable crossover first debuted in 2011 as the Subaru XV concept vehicles, a crossover between the Subaru Impreza hatchback with the raised suspension and increased capacity of an SUV. Whether you are a young couple looking for something to take you places in comfort and style, or you seek something cozy and relaxing for the whole family to enjoy, the Subaru Crosstrek is the crossover for you and the masses in general! Since its debut, the Crosstrek has evolved into what it is today, with the 2019 Crosstrek offering a broad range of available technologies, optimal traction, and a smooth performance with adventure in mind! This new crossover comes available in three different trim levels: the 2.0i, 2.0i Premium, and 2.0i Limited.

Power and Fuel Efficiency

Each Subaru Crosstrek model features then same horizontally-opposed four-cylinder (H4) engine underneath its hood: a 2.0-liter, 152 horsepower SUBARU BOXER® engine with direct fuel injection and the Dual Active Valve Control System (DAVCS) for responsive valve timing and increased air flow into the engine for maximum efficiency. This H4 engine is made from lightweight aluminum alloy, which cuts the vehicle's overall curb weight down, thus, minimizing drag and increasing fuel efficiency. If you want to save the most fuel, while cutting your own carbon footprint, the Crosstrek also comes available as a hybrid model which pairs together a 137-horsepower gas engine with a 118-horsepower permanent magnet AC Synchronous Motor, both of which work in harmony with Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE). The Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid generates a total power output of 148 horsepower and can travel up to an estimated 90 miles per gallon.

Most trim levels pair this engine with a six-speed manual transmission, though a Lineartronic® Continuously Variable Automatic Transmission (CVT) is available on the 2.0i and 2.0i Limited trims; the CVT is standard on the 2.0i Limited.

Drive Comfortably on Many Surfaces

A relatively new feature the Crosstrek offers standard on all trims, which came an upgrade for most 2019 Subaru models, is Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. This balanced drivetrain maintains a low center of gravity, evenly distributing the curb weight of this crossover evenly to improve handling. The system also monitors road and weather conditions in order to direct the maximum amount of engine torque to the wheels for optimal traction. If you are driving on smooth roads, the AWD system utilizes torque more conservatively, but if the snow and rain start to come down heavily, the system directs torque to the wheels with the best traction capabilities and helps keep the crossover running smoothly and steadily. Available on most trims, and standard on the 2.0i Limited, is X-MODE®, which works in conjunction with the AWD and standard Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) to reduce excess wheelspin in adverse road conditions and increases the full potential of the AWD to keep the vehicle completely steady on lower-friction roads.

A Comfortable and Versatile Ride!

All it might take for you to fall in love with the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek is its interior space, which takes the already roomy interior of the Impreza and kicks it up a notch. Thanks to the 100.9 cubic feet of passenger volume available, you and your backseat passengers will enjoy lots of leg room and shoulder room between seats. Anyone who drives with kids in the backseat knows how handy extra leg room can come in handy to minimize arguing over whose feet are on whose side of the car! Open up the hatchback, and you will see a spacious and useful cargo bay area with almost 21 cubic feet of cargo volume to offer alone, perfect for luggage, groceries, and some sporting equipment too! Need some more space for your skis or snowboard? All you have to do is fold in the rear seatbacks in order to free up to 55.3 cubic feet of total cargo volume.

The 2019 Crosstrek features a number of different, yet equally comfortable, choices for seating material: you may choose between cloth upholstery, cloth with orange stitching, or leather-trimmed upholstery with orange stitching. Heated front seats are available on the 2.0i Premium and 2.0i Limited trims.

Innovations in Safety Technology!

Another great new update that the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek has to offer is the increased accessibility of EyeSight® Driver-Assist Technology, which is available on all trim levels. Utilizing special cameras and sensors, the EyeSight System helps to provide a useful navigational guide on the excursions ahead, keeping you alerted to pedestrians, incoming cars, and other obstructions you might miss. The applications of EyeSight® include Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure and Sway Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and Pre-Collision Braking and Throttle Management. All trim levels come standard with such other useful safety features as Vehicle Dynamics Control and a Rear-Vision Camera, but the 2.,0i Limited trim has the most technology to offer behind the wheel, with:

  • High Beam Assist
  • Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB)
  • Blind Spot Detection/Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
  • SUBARU STARLINK™ Safety and Security: includes Automatic Collision Notification, SOS Emergency Assistance, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Diagnostic Alerts, and Remote Engine Start with Climate Control

Keep Yourself Entertained and Informed

As you take on the journey, you might want to know the latest there is to know about changing traffic patterns, especially if construction recently began on the freeway. Some of us might simply wish for a great way to plug in our phone and enjoy more tunes than the typical AM/FM station can provide. In either case, the SUBARU STARLINK™ media system behind the dashboard is there to help! All trims feature this multimedia hub, which comes compatible with Bluetooth®, Apple CarPlay™, and Android Auto™ as well as Pandora® and Aha™ internet radio. The STARLINK™ media hub is yours to control through an easily-accessible 6.5-inch LCD touchscreen display, while the Limited trim adds on aMultimedia Navigation system with iHeart Radio®, SiriusXM® Satellite Radio, voice-activated controls, and an 8.0-inch LCD touchscreen.
